Bread Bites

These little colorful bites are my grandmother's creation. We used to love these as kids and still love making them when entertaining. It's a crowd pleaser and tastes so good... just watch the plates go empty in minutes.

What you'll need..
  • 5 Slices of bread, but into 6 squares each
  • 1/2 Cup moong dal (Split yellow moong beans)
  • 1/4 Tsp turmeric powder
  • Cilantro chutney
  • Ketchup
  • Oil for frying
  • Salt to taste
How to..
  • Cook the moong dal in a non stick pan with 1 and 1/2 cups of water, salt and turmeric powder till its soft and tender.
  • Heat oil for frying in a pan. Add the pieces of bread, a few at a time, and fry till they turn golden brown and crispy. Remove from heat and drain on a paper towel.
  • Dab all the fried pieces with paper towel again to get all the excess oil out and then arrange them on your serving plate.
  • Add little teaspoons of dal, followed by cilantro chutney and then ketchup. Serve hot.
